BYOK: bring your own key
Route Assist and Director through your own OpenRouter API key. Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain— never in preferences, logs or take files—and requests go straight from your Mac to your provider.
What DemoTake AI does
Small, fast decisions.
Most of the work is hundreds of tiny decisions, not one giant prompt. Sending a whole recording to AI would be slow, expensive and unnecessary.

DemoTake shows which AI mode a project uses, and every AI feature can be switched off in Settings.
What leaves your Mac
The minimum, and you can see it.
- Manual and BYO Agent: nothing is sent to DemoTake AI. Your agent sees what you and it choose to share through MCP.
- Assist and Director: redacted, structured text by default. Secret Guard runs first, so passwords, one-time codes, API keys, card numbers and emails are replaced before a request is built.
- Snapshots are never sent while minimal context is on (the default).
- Raw recordings are never sent to a model.
